I read something in my paper yesterday about how they flew over a fireworks demonstration area and they let a firework go off or something and the birds flew over and the noise gave them heart attacks. This is plausible. Birds are very sensitive, and when I had my parakeets you were always told not to stress them out because of this reason. I tried looking for the article online, but its not up on their site anymore

I had a parakeet that died when our family cat jumped on the couch and stared @ it... it was just sitting on his perch and feel dead to the bottom of the cage . All because the cat glared it down.

Me & my older sister use to own our own Bird store! We bred and raised all sorts of them and a few exotics. Any type of smoke inhalation is instant poison to most birds. Their lungs are so tiny and it doesn't take much for them to fill up with the wrong kind of air in their lungs to kill them. The smoke given off from fireworks will kill any bird if it flys thru it and inhales it. This is why miners always used parakeets or love birds in their tunnels. The sloghtest escape of toxic fumes will fill a birds lungs and kill it. If a miners bird dies then they immediately have the tunnels air checked for poisonous fumes! The tiniest will kill a bird......eventually it can kill a human! Just a word of thought!!

Birds can also have heart attacks if scared enough. The smaller birds will die faster than your larger ones from one. The can also die from cold air drafts.....not enough warm air to breath.....they can have blockages and all sorts of issues.....they get egg bound.....ok sorry off the subject now!! LOL!!!
It could of even been a combination of things.....my guess is....more than one bird dieing....had to do with what they breathed in than a heart attack with so many!

I read the article.....wow really interesting!! Flocks of birds dieing every where for no apparant reasons....I still say the air or something in it!! Black birds are really hard to scare easy! But if they were caught in a wind tunnel.....that could do it I am sure!

Domestic birds are nice to have....but yes...that much money and they can die easily! I know someone that had a Scarlet Macaw and they had their carpets professionally cleaned.......they didn't know the bird wasn't locked in it's cage and it licked the cleaner from the carpet to taste it, and it died from the cleaner they used....it's amazing!!! I have owned a Blue Crown, Senegals, Blue & Gold Macaw, several love birds, cockatiels, parakeets and even a parolett!! Sweet birds...most were either talkers or singers......some only loved me and no one else....LOL!!! My Blue Crown & Blue n Gold only loved me and would put holes in everyone else......LMBO!!! My babies!!!
