Hollie and Reuben's 11 pups!
Well our Hollie that has had 8 in her two past litters, surprised us with a litter of 11 yesterday! She looked smaller this time than she did her other two litters so we were surprised! Our guess was 6-8 pups this time. Her previous litters pups were always between 7-8 oz, and these guys were all roughly around 6 oz so she fooled us with just having a lot of smaller babies packed inside her. We lost the 11th puppy born. We did CPR on him for 10 minutes, and he made a few faint noises and blew bubbles out of his. We continued to do CPR on him for another 15 minutes, but we just couldn't bring him back. I'll post some pictures later of the other 10 later!

Re: Hollie and Reuben's 11 pups!
Little Charlie passed away this morning . He was just so tiny, and didn't want to nurse or stay with the rest of the litter. We tried so hard to get him to eat and we were checking on him every half hour, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Its hard not to take things personally like maybe we could have did something more to save him. The other 9 babies all seem to be doing well, and are little chunkers.
One of my friends is hopefully coming to take Zero home with her on Saturday, and if that doesn't work out I have someone waiting to here back from me that is willing to drive out that same Saturday and take him. I just hope everything works out this time

Congrats on the 9 and so sorry about the loss of the other two. You know sometimes unfortunately things just do not work out for some reason or another. Losing two may have made it more likely for the last 9 to thrive because there is now less to have to fight for the nipples.

Congrats on the litter and so very sorry about the two little ones. I know how hard that is to go through. I hope the 9 do great! I haven't been to your facebook page to look at the babies, but am on my way now

Thanks everyone I know in big litters like this its common to lose pups, but it doesn't make it any less sad. Hoping everything will be good from here on out

Ughhh....so sorry Alex that you lost the little boy.......maybe Buddy was waiting to greet them and show them the ropes!!
Glad the other 9 are doing wonderful!!! Robin is right....these things just happen and sometimes for a reason we may not understand......nothing we can do but pick up and go on......I know it's easy to question ourselves.....believe me......I question myself and beat myself up probably more than the average person does.......but I know I have to shake it off and continue.....even tho at that moment, sometimes I just want to give up and quit......I just can't tho!!
HUGS to you and Darren!!!

Re: Hollie and Reuben's 11 pups!
Thanks. I think maybe his lungs weren't fully developed yet or something because even after I cleared his airways when he was first born he was breathing real funny for about an hour then he seemed like he was breathing okay after that, but didn't have the will to eat or stay with the rest of the litter. Anywho everyone else seems to be doing fine, and the little girl that was firstborn that was smaller than the little chocolate dapple boy that passed is eating like a pro! We just have to check on her periodically throughout the day and make sure she's getting enough since all her brothers and sisters are at least an ounce or more bigger than her.
