Say a prayer for Buddy!

While we were away from the house and Buddy was outside in our fenced in yard......something happened. We got home and he had no use of his back legs. I have called the vet and I have Rimadyl on hand so I was told to give him this with crate rest until I can take him in to see him in the morning for xrays. He is eating & drinking which is a good sign. We are keeping him comfortable until tomorrow til we can find out what is going on! This makes me sooo soooo sad for him. I have been cradleing him and babying him since the accident. He doesn't cry like he is hurt even when I pick him up. He is in ok spirits but he does not like to be crated and whines to get out.
Please say a little prayer that all goes well tomorrow and it isn't anything serious!!

Taking him in at 3pm today for xrays and a full evaluation......going to have everything done that needs it! Hopefully it is an easy fix. IF he needs surgery.......I have decided.....I am done breeding and will only do rescue from now on. I will sell the rest of my dogs, including all my show dogs and only keep my few that are spayed & neutered and the ones that will remain here til their last days!!
IF he needs surgery....it will be very costly!
I have been pretty lucky so far.....maybe my luck has finally run out!

I'm sorry, Karen. Hopefully surgery won't be required-it's not the only option, even if your vet recommends it. If I remember correctly, once they lose deep pain sensation, surgery after 24 hours has a very low success rate.

I just saw this. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Buddy. Hope he responds to treatment and doesn't require surgery.

Buddy has "myelomalacia" prognosis.....not good...only 10% survival rate but I am giving him the benefit of the doubt! Please pray that he makes it thru the next few days! Surgery is not an option at this time.

He is so beautiful. How is he doing today?

He is not good at all this morning. This is breaking my heart. I just don't know what to do for him anymore.

Oh Karen so sorry thinking of you both every minute

I just went out and bought him a new suede bed, heating lamp for at night, Nutrical and giving him Karo. Keeping him comfortable. Making him get up to keep him limber! He laid his head on my shoulder earlier. I know he knows I am trying. I leave his crate door open when I am near while he is sleeping. I don't want him feeling like he is being punished by keeping him closed in.
