Clean
How do you guys keep your puppy areas clean?
It's like a nightmare trying to keep mine clean. I bleach twice a day and pick up poop and change puppy pads about 4 times a day. Not gonna lie, it's frustrating.
But then they look up at me and give me kisses and it's all good.
But is there any other way I could handle the cleaning? My puppy area is half my dining room, the have the length of the wall and about 3 feet wide. The sleep/nap area is at one end, food is near that and the pads are at the other end. But they always play on them!! It drives me nuts!

Since they are such a big litter......try putting a low sided litter box in there and start puting them in it.....try to litter box train them......otherwise.....welcome to the world of raising puppies.....LOL.......or you can buy one of those pens that are off the floor with the pans underneath.....but they are like $300!
Sorry I wasn't of much help and good luck hun!! I clean puppy pens all day long!!

Jami,
I know it is hard with that many puppies. I have the 8 myself right now. Plus, I have 4 that will be 3 weeks old Wednesday (Chief & Kati's). But, I agree with you, the kisses are worth all of the effort. Yours should be going to their new homes soon, right. I remember that they were born before mine, but not exactly when. Mine are 6 weeks (7 weeks on Friday). They will be leaving at 10 weeks for added socialization time which gives me the chance to get their second puppy shots for the new owners. So, I have at least 4 more weeks to go and will be cleaning for 12 by then, lol.
Keep your chin up You will miss them terribly when they are gone.

Karen,
Where can you find this type of pen? I have never seen them and it sounds interesting.
Sorry this is off topic, but thought others might like to know as well

Re: Clean
Ugh when the puppies reach 5-6 weeks+ we call that the terror period. It seems like all they want to do is chew, poop, and pee everywhere nonstop! Since Hollie's always had big litters we just suck it up and get used to it, but man it is very frustrating at times! We have a concrete floor in the puppy room thats painted with that concrete sealer paint. Its fairly easy to clean up, but once they reach that age I'm still on my hands and knees scrubbing the whole floor twice everyday. What I find gross is when the puppies all run through it and roll around on the ground and then they try to cimb up your legs and jump on you and they are all sticky and smelly. LOL can't help that though. I usually clean the floors, then its bathtime for the pups, and bathtime for me afterwards LOL.
I got so spoiled when Taffy only had her two, and then they were so behaved. I'm dreading the slap back to reality here in a week or two

The "terror period" I like that....lol..Yes,puppies don't realized they backed into a mess then run and jump at you...
Alex,Maybe try a huge piece of linoleum and then an ex-pen over it.,Might be easier to scrub down than the sealed concrete...??.I think I'm going to try this one in the house..lol..
